Titus’s last attempt to right things doesn’t come close to fix all the pain he inflicted on Violet, but it restores some faith in the future people. She lies silent and immobilized staring at the ceiling as Titus tells her a story their story. Several months later as Violet lays in her bed with only 4.6% left Titus comes to visit. Unfortunately her heart is broken when Titus brakes up with her. She makes plans, involving Titus, to spend everyday differently. Now facing death, Violet wants to make the most of the remainder of her life. If the number reaches 98% all will be well however, this goal is never met, and it quickly becomes clear that Violet is dying. These percentages signify the state of Violet’s feed. The chapter titles mainly consist of percentage numbers fluctuating, but slowly decreasing. Loss of memory and bodily functions are only some of the symptoms she suffers from. It starts off with Violet in the hospital after “braking” at a party with Titus. Anderson progressed it got better and better, the final part (Part 4: Slumberland) the deepest and most moving part in the entire novel.
